Welcome by Chair and meeting was called to order at 9:05am.

After recommending that Mr. Spitzer’s name be corrected and DEP be changed to DEEP, a motion was made by E. Griswold and seconded by W. Dunbar to accept the minutes of April 11, 2014.  Motion carried.

Chair shared information gathered at a meeting with the first selectwoman regarding a possible NRCS application by a landowner.
NRCS is a program through the Department of Agricultural that will buy your house, but must be torn down.  The town would own it and with an easement could be protected and possibly be open space.

The GIS map has been improved upon and was shared.

Chair reported that the Earth Day at OLHS went well.  It did lack attendance by HS students or their parents.  The presenters did a terrific job.

D. Atwood Johnson shared a notable tree article and also requested we become a member of the Ct Land Conservation Council.  T. Kiritsis made motion which was then seconded by E. Griswold, so moved.

Chair meet with the superintendent of the Coast Guard Academy and stated they may be interested in doing trail work in the future.  D.  Atwood Johnson will follow up with her for new recruits in late August and early September.

Finally, Chair reported that once the budget passes, pursuance will begin in hiring a land trail person.

Meeting adjourned at 10:10am with a motion by W. Dunbar and seconded by E. Griswold.
